Hi folks just after a bit of advice following the horrible clunking sounds and wayward steering Im pretty sure I need to change my driver side tracking rods and I'm due a cambelt change around now so I figured I'll do that aswell .
I'm just after advice on the best place to get these parts as obviously I don't want to put crap on but in these hard times I don't want to pay through the nose .
It's an O2 plate 2.6 v6 not sure on the chassis number .
Any prods in the right direction would be greatly appreciated thanks and if I can put some business towards a fellow forum member that would be ideal .
Cheers folks ;D

Where ever you get your belt kit from make sure that they will return it if there are any problems with it i.e noisy rollers or tensioner.
I did a belt for someone in August within two days the tensioner began to make a squeaking noise when hot on stripdown you could see a trail of grease leaking out of the tensioner bearing - I bought another set and fitted it to the customers car no problem - but was then out of pocket for the parts as the supplier wanted to return the kit to SKF. this procedure took three months! until i finally got a full refund.
As this engine finished production in 2004 I suspect SKF who are the sole supplier of the rollers probably produced enough for what they thought the life of the engine would be - there fore there are a lot of them lying around in warehouses with seals drying out that can cause problems when fitted to engines.

Cam belt kits - get a Contitech kit from Buypartsby (~£60) - you will also need use of a proper cam locking kit to change the belt etc otherwise you won't be able to time it spot on. There's a brilliant DVD in the Omega shop showing the whole procedure - well worth buying and watching.
Track rod - I've used pattern (eg QH) without issue

by the way if yours is an 02 reg it will probably be the none excentric bottom roller

Good point, probably will be, much easier, once over the panic of confirming the correct kit. ;D

Which, for the OP's benefit, means that the DVD, while very useful, does not cover his model. :y

its a minor difference, the dvd is still relevant for 90% of the rest of the procedure, but you,ll be ahead as the non adjustable bottom roller means less work, as cams 3 and 4 will be set, you only have to adjust cams 1 and 2 via the top eccentric roller.
seemples. :)

I wish I'd known that when I did my 3.2 earlier this year, I was scratching my head trying to make the DVD match mine! Still it runs OK, so it must have been close. :-[

they are actually easier to do as there is no adjustment for the right hand bank - just have to put all the slack to the right hand bank put the roller on then move the slack back to the the tensioner - you can still fit the excentric bottom roller to this model

At least I know for next time in 4 years.! However, as I'll be 80 then, I may ask a mobile to help. :y
