Title: Private Plate.
Post by: Mr Skrunts on 29 April 2008, 18:34:35
I fancy a cheap private plate for my car.

Am open minded but want something that catches my eye of suits my personality/sence of humour.

Anyone know of anything interesting for sale.

Also are there any of the registration company's to stay clear of.

Even if I do see one I will also check it on the DVLA for availability 1st, have heard the stories about the commision on the DVLA plates.

Hopefully something with

PHL  (Phil/Philip)(Yup - My real name aint skruntie - Sorry)

PAW (My intitials)
WAP (Same as above in reverse.)

Numbers 27 or 61 or 1961  (DOB 27-4-61)

So maybe like an Irish plate PHL 1961

Wont mean a lot to others but then why should it.

Going on a T plate car.

Would appreciciate a PM should anyone spot anything

PS,  DVLA for your plate. £250 is your whack!

You cannot beat them.

One of my friend just bought a brand new  Corsa VXR with the 888 racing pack, and I found him T80 RSC.

Turbo and his initials.

All VXR plates were mysteriously expensive. ::)

Wonder why?

In 1970 I sold the plate on my 1961 Austin A40, 1721 JW, for £15, the price I paid 6 months before for the whole car!  :y

At the time I was so chuffed, but just think what that plate is now worth; £3,500 I believe judging on the price for similar registrations! :o :o    My A40, if it could ever have survived - rusted through chassis, with holes big enough to put your hands through everywhere across the bodywork ( I just rebuilt the engine!) - would not be worth £3,500!  Would it?! :-/ :-/
