Title: Any tin bashers/machinists in the house?
Post by: TheBoy on 23 December 2012, 20:00:56
I need some "washers", which I can't seem to find for love nor money...

32mm outside diameter (there is some flexibility in this)
24mm inside diameter
4.9mm thick

It needs to be rustproof, so was thinking stainless? I understand this is a pig to machine, so other options??

I'm not back in work till the 3rd Jan,  they should not be problem, as long as they've not moved the lathe again  ???.

Stainless is a little more difficult than mild steel because it's a bit softer ....... but by no means 'a pig'.

I'm back at work on the 2nd Jan but I've got some galvanised pipe in my garage that can either be parted off or hack-sawed to the required thickness if you're in a hurry. Slight difference in diameter though.
Pipe is OD 33mm & ID 25mm, thickness would be your choice or however good you are at sawing pipe straight.
Any help to you.  :)

I make it 4.5mm thick x 4 (one each side = 9mm)
