Title: Little sods..
Post by: worzelof10acrefield on 07 January 2013, 21:46:59
Today i had 2 people arrive to look at my old peugeot i had for sale.
They managed to burn out a perfectly good clutch and claim the head gasket had gone even though i know for a fact it hasn't.

Now i have a knackered car that i can no longer sell.

Anyone else had these sorts of idiots?

Made me VERY! mad at the time. I don't think they appreciated my attitude at the time and i did tell them to go away in some foriegn language.

Jay

I won't let anybody test drive a car until a price has been agreed. I know it will drive well so they can't knock the price. As I know the car will drive right then i expect to be paid. If they decide not then I have been known to get a little miffed. I had somebody come to look at bike I had for sale. He asked to start it and within two seconds he said the main bearings had gone. He then tried to knock the price. So I said if it's knackered I'll have to fix it and it's no longer for sale. Surprise surprise he coughed up the full amount all of a sudden.

When selling my Astra (£700, so hardly a fortune) we'd agreed a price after he'd tried to knock me down on the phone before he'd even seen it. Half way round the test run he then started again to make another offer. I just told him to pull over & phone his mate to come & collect him, trouble was, he was no stranger to a gym & was huge!  ??? Fortunately he towed the line, & agreed to the previously agreed £700.

That's got to be a record, Worzel. Eight posts and two breakers advertised. I take my hat off to you lad   ;D

they burnt out the clutch by saying it's slipping.but he got a 170+bhp engine at near full boost and then tried the clutch to see if it would slip and of course it did. It is a standard clutch so of course it will slip but not stopping there he tried to make it slip more under much of my prodestations.
I haven't tried it again since but i wouldn.t be supprised if it was on fire or glowing..

They said the head gasket had gone as there was condensation in the oil filler... I used it mostly on a 6 mile trip either way to work so of course there will be condensation.
Never overheated or give any signs even on my odd long journey and cooling fan cutting in all ok when in traffic.

Basically they were twits ???. and they claimed they were mechanics.....I am a mechanic and i know they did not know what they were talking about..
