Title: Tyre size
Post by: acope on 13 January 2013, 12:00:12
Hi guys as yet i`m not an owner..still looking, so might seem a silly question.

What size tyres are on the omega...looking online at a 2.2 auto at the moment, possibly needs a couple.

Are they different on all the various models..2.2 / 2.5 /3.0 etc etc,

Thanks..

there a lots of different sizes from 15-17" wheels and I think 195- 235 width and ranging from 65-45 height I believe there is a post in the maintenance section, so you really need to know what the car has on it, Prices can be anything from around £40 to over £100

Facelifts have two factory sizes :y

225/55/16 on either 6 spoke polished wheels (GLS) or 5 spoke painted (CD), or 7 spoke painted (CDX).

235/45/17 on a choice of 5 spoke flat face painted ('99-'02 MV6 and Elite) or 6spoke painted (MV6 and Elite,'02 on)

Good tyres in both sizes can be bought reliably for less than £70 fitted :y

I believe alot of pre facelifts used either 205/65/15, 225/55/16 or 235/45/17 for MV6 and some Elite :-\

May be they are Factory sizes but people do put different sizes on as I found out front can be different from bakc tyres too people do some strange things when it comes to tyres, as said need to know what is fitted to the car

All the wheels on facelifts should be alloy, most are painted, one, the GLS ones are laquered and generally have seen better days :-\

Sounds like the car is a CD. Can you post a link to the ad? That way we can tell for certain :y

Have you not found one yet  ;) What ever you do make sure you go and look at the car , the first one i looked at last week had erm "problems" that were not mentioned in the add  >:( Although not an omega you still have to check the obvious and this one had white gunk in the oil and water with saggy suspension and steering issues but the add said good little motor with no problems  ::) ::) ::)
All the best with your search and take someone with you for a second opinion :y

Emissions light is probably due to aftermarket cat being fitted

I have a 2.2 sport auto estate with 17" alloys and the tyres are 235/45/17. Not cheap but shop around I found ridiculous
differences between tyre specialists. :)

Hi

Got my 225/65/16s from STS for £70 a corner - they are Primewell and seem to be OK - not much road noise and decent traction.
Also had Accelera and they were fine too.

RobG....yep thats the one i`m looking at. you reckon that could be the new cat that has been fitted, any idea as to what a genuine part would cost please, and does it need 1 or 2 , dont know how the exhaust pipes run.

I would budget for rebuilding the front suspension and getting the geometry set up properly afterwards before changing the tyres (unless they're illegal of course).
