2 less pots than a v6 and also most are in a straight line ;D ;D ;D

Okay you persuaded me
Its a 2001 Early Facelift 2.2 Petrol Auto Estate in Silver its suffering from a Mis-fire, Topend been rebuilt new waterpump, Cambelt and Auto box keeps going into Limp Mode?
Im bloody awful with Petrol lumps but the 'dangle berries' with Diesels lol Help needed me thinks
-
could be coil pack, how long did it start after top end was rebuilt
-
plus, any codes?
-
Computer says nothing Not one fault code the engine management light isnt on. it ran fine after the head was done, its just got worse over time, their was an air leak which was a seal on one of the injectors which was replaced with Vauxhall parts but although it fixed the leak, its made the thing lack power low down Checked cam timing and now it wont rev over 3000rpm?
-
Check codes again! If anything, you would have had old codes stored from the air-leak.
How are you reading the codes?
-
The Old paperclip test is that okay? or should i try another
-
i would say coil pack in that case, might be worth just removing it and checking the condition of it,and make sure the rubber boots are ok
-
Can sensor will put the auto box into a tizzy and cause misfires and lumpy running. 2.2 prone to this fault.
-
Ill try pull it out next Saturday the trusty DTi keeps chugging along so i keep using that :) interested to see if its a genuine Cam Sensor would this cause these problems?

Not on a 2.2 im afraid.

GREAT MINDS THINK ALIKE

Replace with a new gen vx cam sensor only. :y
-
Will one from Vaux-World be acceptible O-Wise One
-
I'd still be inclined to get the codes read. :-\
-
ROB!! I NEED YOUR PART NUMBER SPECIALITY SKILLS NOW BUD!!
-
I'd still be inclined to get the codes read. :-\
I Have contacts with Stapletons Tyre Services locally who have a Snap-On ill try there
-
.... its just getting it there lol
-
I seen to remember vaux world dont always supply gen parts so a dealer will be the best bet.
-
Might get a Price before i start falking out Cash as i believe its recently had 2 Aftermarket Cam Sensors??

Aftermarket Cam Sensors are a definite no no.
-
:-\ Unfortunatly ive heard this and thought exactly the same thing ::)
-
there you go NEVER USE AFTERMARKET CRAP. :o
-
Try andyc for parts. But get codes read first before going parts changing.
-
This is the pricing I'm getting for a 2.2. But for some reason not a camshaft sensor for the DTI on the site....

How weird but thankfully touch would no sensor faults on the DTi as of yet lol
-
got a TC card, Sam?
-
Have you checked timing for misfire? ECU will throw an 0340 if it`s out. BTW RPM cut off point for dodgy cam sensor is 4500
-
I dunno i got some little Card thing from MIGWEB
-
the timings been checked and apparently all is well but like i keep saying obviously ruddy not otherwise id be able to drive it lol

But is it? :)

Similar to TC :)

What is this MIGWEB that you speak of? :D
-
Do not change anything until you've had the codes read, it will only complicate matters.
2.2 petrol needs a code reader. No other way to read DTCs on that.
-
Okay guys thanks for the input ill be borrowing the Codereader next weekend hopefully :)

Having all kinds of trouble code reading the 2.2 Auto
Quick question though would a Duff Lambda Sensor cause te auto box to go into limp mode?

Mate bring your reader maybe one out of three should read car fault=cross timing off list and cam sensor(GEN VX) and reckon its ECU myself due to 2 people tried to access fault-EML is on sometimes when you start sometimes not? Eml can go out =spanner light comes on?? Gave up myself cos needs Tech 2 and well rest is history mate Just let me know what problem was Eventually when sorted=reckon get code solve problem pretty quick if not worth it in parts mate TBH.

Do you think general ECU or Gearbox ECU
-
Dont know havent got tech 2 and its a DBW which means drive by wire BUT should be Dont Bloody Work!!!! Useless turd of an idea that electrickery to replace simple cable-Faggots
So havent a clue which ecu or if something simple causing it-all migs from after 2000 are b***** you cant do paperclip test and need computer to just find fault-if you lucky Now wait for rants mate - trouble is what i say is true and no one wants to admit it
Thats what I said to previous owner he had mate who owns garage told him to Tech2 the ******r Funny thing is I took for drive and all good-went to old mans-next day F U B A R go figure? on that then-fitted vx cam sensor as everyone and thier cousin said=cam sensor=B*****x same
best bet is take to garage and Tech2 at least it will get it then-Had people contact me privately over their own cars and soon as say DBW or 2.6 tell them garage +Tech2

I'd go back to basics and start by checking for a spark at the end of each lead/coilpack, then re-check timing (it may have slipped since 'symes' last saw the vehicle).
It may also be worth checking all the fuses, which pins did you short out at the diagnostics plug?
Does the e.m.l. come on with the other lights at initial start up?

There is no cam sensor on a 2.2 Vx. diesel.
Also any code reader that can talk to a Vx. diesel should be able to communicate with a 2.2 petrol easily.

Car still here mate -since before Xmas and Q1=yes Q2=no Q3=yes

Any glitches in the engine ecu, gearbox ecu and abs ecu can causes engine and gearbox to limp. All 3 ecus have a close relationship, so when one has a monk on, it can affect the others.
It really does need to go on a code reader capable of readign these 3 ECUs. Anything else is just guesswork, and that then, aside from being expensive, further complicates matters.
As to DBW, nothing inherently wrong with them. Most are robust, and the ones fitted to Omegas are very robust. In the 9yrs or so I've been active on various Omega sites, I think I've heard of 2 failures. It is worth cleaning them every time you do the breathers (ie, annually, or every couple of years if its always used for longer journeys only), but this is no different to the cable operated ones.
-
.. and, to add, it won't be either ECU, before we go down that route. They are incredibly reliable. I can recall one or two faulty engine / gearbox ECUs in 6 years of diagnosing Omega issues.
As said, until you know the codes raised by all 3, you are in the dark.
