Hi all, whilst trying to solve my strange code readings following HG change (see http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=110776.msg1393426#msg1393426 (http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=110776.msg1393426#msg1393426)) I followed the wires from the throttle body and uncovered this hidden in the conduit:
The two bare connections you can see were both covered in very brittle and failing tape of some sort. From the two connections the wires both head off into the connector for the throttle body. The other side splits into 2 or 3 other wires and they disappear off into the loom.
Are these connections normal? Why does the wire connect into more than one wire? What is the best way to make sure these connections are sound?
Cheers

Yep...just realised it is pretty poo! Gone back to photobucket, and hey presto! Now answers on a postcard please!

standard wiring connections there mate-thats how vx have 1 wire split into 3 or 4 as an example :y :y

Interesting, not likely to be my issue then...thought I had solved it! Should I just stick some insulation tape round them and leave them alone?

I have encountered problems on these joints-what I did was solder over them -then cover them up again :y :y :y

Excellent I was thinking solder.
What should I cover with? The previous tape had obviously suffered badly as a result of the heat, although suppose wasn't doing too bad considering they must have been 12 years old!

I borrowed harness tape from work ;D but cant see why electrical tape wont do it-shouldnt get that hot-try it and see-after all what you got to lose?

Thanks a lot! If only that were to solve my weird fault issue is would be over the moon!

Wierd issue?????
The issues I am having in the following post:
http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=110776.msg1393426#msg1393426 (http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=110776.msg1393426#msg1393426)
The car runs normal every other start, then the alternate start it has no accelerator response and revs high at 1250rpm and returns the code saying minimum throttle position not learned. Any ideas on this one?

nope but sounds like boggys car-2.2 got me stumped even new cam sensor-same as yours mate also gearbox threw fit as well so he got rid- :'(
hope you solve issue-could br those joins-mine mere pretty shot mate :y

Oh dear...cam sensor was going to be my next port of call! Car was fine before I stripped it and took the head off, except for the gasket failure of course.
What was his gearbox fault?

That's something up with the electronic throttle control, so I'd be making sure the throttle body is clean and the throttle moves smoothly, and also check the wiring connector on the throttle body and connections back to the ECU. If that's the only code, I very much doubt it's the cam sensor.
EDIT: Already said that in the other thread, though. ::)
