Title: Running Cool
Post by: coop1952 on 15 January 2013, 11:45:41
Something thats just started to happen in the last 2 weeks. Although the cabin in my 2.6 omega warms up (doesn't really get hot), around town the temperature guage hardly gets to 80 degrees. On motorway driving it hardly moves at all. My thoughts are that it's the thermostat but before I change it, is there anything else it could be. I believe the thermostat is a little 'difficult' to change because of the 'bastard bolt'.

It will be the thermostat. It's best getting a new transfer pipe as well just in case you break the original one removing it but it's only about £12 from Vauxhall ;)

Its 'interesting', but doable with patience. Worth doing a good flush while doing it. :y

My 2000 X 2.5 V6 Elite is the same. Had a head gasket done recently. Car is cold inside even with heater full on, the "hot" air is barely luke warm. Temp gauge only really goes up much in slow traffic, and engine takes ages to heat up at all.
