Title: 2.2 thermostat same as 1.8 Astra?

As title really .. a mate with a 1.8 Astra coupe 2002 asked me to look at his car because it wasn't getting up to temperature, thermostat stuck open.

Noticed that the engine is similar to my 2.2 mig but his thermostat housing has the coolant sensor on it, would the housing fit and therefore give a more accurate/stable temperature reading?
