Mrs Opti's Corsa 1.2 cost £103 fully comp with myself as a named driver.
She also received a meerkat/meercat... :P :P
.....her briefly-owned Mazda RX-8 cost £180 ish.

Either of those prices il gladly take anyday Opti. But my quotes are on the other end of the 3 figures :)

I did some insurance quotes last night as it's up for renewal next year.. last year I paid £645 for both cars (then the MR2 Roadster and Omega) - this year looks like £780 for both cars (now the E46 M3 and Omega). Not bad, better than I expected anyway!

That's all? :o :o :o
I would have thought the difference would be a lot more. Driving a 3 litre must be considerably more of a risk for an insurance company than a 1.1, I would have thought. ::) ::) ::) ;)

I dread to think what my 3.0 would have been with no NCB , my daughter was quoted over £3k for her first year on a corsa :o

pity you can't put them all on one, although it might not be any cheaper...

My 03, 2.2DTi GLS is £60 a year more than my 51 3.2 Elite :o :o

insurance can be a bit of a joke. especially with age. Being 23 they LOVE me when it comes to renewal ha. i pay 1200 on the omega 3.0 MV6, thats 2 years NCB and 6 points aswell so wasnt that bad but i was paying £950 on my skyline?!?! work that out ha :)

I asked a mate of mine who works for an insurance company to explain it.
Take your average 1.1L car - pug 106? Driven by spotty 19 year old with zero years experience, a belief in his immortality, and regularly carries two or three equally spotty, inexperienced and immortal friends.
Compare to your average 3.0L car - BMW? Audi? Omega. Driven by 40 year old sales executive with 20 years driving experience, and a wife and 2.4 kids to survive for.
Which is most likely to be involved in an accident?
I would estimate your average 1.1 car is 100x more likely to have a claim than a 3.0
Should be cheaper >:(

Iirc my omega (2.5 v6 with lpg) was around £200 this year - fully comp with protected ncb. Cavalier (no ncb) was just under £150.

We don't know what his Omega cost though. I'm in the same county, the quote for my 3.0l MV6 (before I jigged around the primary drivers) was around £180. So £160 off that would never happen... ;)

IIRC, mine came to £529 for both, both with 20k pa mileage, both with business use, both with declared mods.
