Title: The Big Cat has arrived
Post by: Markie on 03 May 2008, 18:44:34
Some will know i am kind of defecting.

New Jag was collected today and thought id post the verdict ( so far)

Pics also going in gallery, oh and i still have many Vauxhalls including SWMBOs 2.5 CDX Miggy...

So bad points on the Jag:

Even though it has lots of extras it does not compare to CDX or my specced up MV6, ie no MID, no rear electric windows, no sunroof, no heated seats. I did know all this before buying though!

It does have 4 wheel Drive, cruise, 17" alloys, cd & phone, xenons, PDC and leather though.

The internal switches and plastics are not as good quality as the Omega - around door trim etc. Nothing wrong just not omega standard.

So do i have regrets, well bearing in mind i have two annoying internal rattles due to the rock hard suspension....

No  ;D

Performance is astonishing, roadholding is train like - no body role at speed. No engine noise apart from a venemous roar under load !

We gave it some spirited driving back home with the mv6 leading the way and with and both performed really well...i held on to the MV6 comfortably - which is not bad as my Dad was driving the MV6 ( ex traffic Inspector so he was properly taught unlike me)

And those curves oh my oh my  :P

So pluses and negatives as i envisaged - but i guess the final word should go to the Omega.

Its one incredibly well built and tough car and i am dearly going to miss the MV6 - No matter what the Jag does  :y

Yes mate it is, really proud of having a Jag...but that emotion is pretty tainted today because I am so devatated at the thought of losing the MV6.

3.5 years of straight passed MOTs and no problems.

But that door rust meant it had to go.... :'(

Nice matey, what engine? Manual or Auto?

I fancied one of these for a while, but permission was denied. :(

When I worked for Ford I was given one for a week as a wee bonus.

3.0 Sport with a manual box and full jag bodykit.

Unbe-rather-lievable!

What a machine, black leather, dark maple wood, TV, NAV,all the boxes ticked as it was a demonstrator.

Only thing I hated was the colour.

RED!

One should not have a Jag in bright red!

Anywho, enjoy matey. :y

P.S.

My mate Rockabelly will be contacting you regarding some n/s/rear lights.

He had a brown trouser moment earlier in the week, I was out patching his Miggy up earlier today. ::)

Very nice Markie. This is what SWMBO is getting when her ZT is knackered (I haven't told her yet) ;)

Hmmm... Jag.... nice one there Markie!

I was looking at this one:

http://www.cargiant.co.uk/Jaguar/X_Type/details.asp?Id=377492

any comments anyone....?

(I am banking on Boris abolishing the £25 charge! But I will still get hit by VED   :(  )

Really really nice example there MarkJay

But over priced ! Same company had one same spec, mileage, colour and year as mine and wanted 2k more than i paid for mine....

So you will get that year/ model cheaper elewhere...nearer £10k  :-/

I think that's to do with London prices.... :(

Probably would be cheaper to buy up north then drive it down to London.

Sadly, though, I may have to trade-in my Pride and Joy...  :(

I would have really loved to have it passed-on to an OOF member, but the problem is that I can't stay without a car for work reasons, and I can't get a third car because I have nowhere to part it (Council only gives Residents permits to 2 cars per family, and I am fully booked). So no private sale for me...  :( must change cars back-to-back.

The Omega is booked to see Tony WIM this week (been 2 years now since last time), and I intend to have it done even though I am considering selling it... sad I know.  ;D
