Title: What are these connector sockets for?? ( Pics)
Post by: Cliffo B on 18 January 2013, 23:10:25
(https://dl.dropbox.com/u/57377687/SDC10306.jpg)   They are spring loaded flip up lids and reveal some sort of possible
jack socket. On the lids in embossed letters is the word BRITAX
I realise that probably the best way to find out is to take off the
centre console and trace back whatever is connected up
However if anyone knows what they are advance knowledge can
                                                                                      can be usefull  :y

Wording makes me doubt it, but are they 12V "Cig Lighter" sockets?

Just thinking if the previous owner liked gadgets then he might have wanted more :-\

they are a different kind of plug, normally found in trucks, if you go onto ebay and put in search "britax plug" youll see the difference  hth

Called HELLA plugs or socket, most trucks have 1 at least, they offer a better connection compered to a ciggy lighter and allow more current/amps to be used.

Could you ask the previous owner what they are for.

So they are 12V sockets that will allow heavy current loads :o
Suppose with all the electronic kit that's available
There could be a need for them
But why two?
Now thinking they could tie in with the C/C/heating issues that exist with Migsy
She's a very cold car
I'll be posting about this when the weather warms up so I can work in the carport
Thanks all  for your input  :y :y
I now know what they are

I bought Migsy from a dealer
So not really viable
Think it's possible there there to support the cars failed heating system
Using some form of auxilary heating equipment
Think something like Symes heated seat covers could be a strong contender
Worth noteing the heating vent in the rear of the centre console to supply the rear passenger compartment sends out heated air
And is the only source of hot air in the car

Sounds like your heater flaps are broken or motors are not working,  :-\ and surely if heater don't work its an Elite so it would have heated seats anyways. :o

The car is a 3.2 elite
and does have working heated seats
Thought that perhaps the heated covers went over the lap/legs
