Hi guys the DTi has developed a weird fault, is there any logical reason other than a faulty handbrake light sensor why the red light should flash whilst the vehicle is moving?

oh yes good point-could be pad change time eh But mine is the switch-

Had the same problem. On mine it was a dodgy connection at the back of the instrument panel. Bent out the pins on the connector a bit and all was fine.

When this happened to mine, a brake light failed shortly afterwards.

Generally, if it flickers, a sign the brake fluid is low, though can be handbrake switch, though this is less common IME.
If the brake fluid is low, firstly check the state of the pads, and renew is necessary. If the pads are still full of meat, search for possible leaks.
