As some of you might have seen I had a problem with my drivrs door lock catch failing which is now sorted thanks to Albitz sending me a replacement. Question is though, I also have a bit of a lazy central locking motor on my drivers door. When operating the keyfob the doors lock but the button on the drivers door stays up then the other doors unlock again because the drivers door hasnt locked. Is this or was this the cause of my door catch failing or is it just a coincidence and the two are not connected.
On the matter of the central locking motor being lazy, if I lock the door with the key it works but it feels stiff to turn the key so is it a case of everything in the drivers door being a bit dry and in need of a bit of WD40 or is the central locking motor on its way out?

Quite likely. But use something like chain lube rather than WD40 ;)

Cheers Andy. Anywhere in particular that you would suggest lubing (steady now) as I cant see a lot inside the door other than the door catch and window mechanism.
Guess it wouldn't it hurt to use the straw and spray some WD40 directly into the keyhole?

Anywhere that there is a linkage between the interior & exterior door handles & the locking motor. :y

Give everything a spray with silicone lubricant or Duck oil,
these will not dry out or go sticky and hard in the low tempretures we have at the moment, if this does not improve it then a replacement lock solonoid will be needed. :y

Gutted, could have changed that today when I replaced the catch mechanism today....... if I'd had one. :-\

You don't need to tell me fella, had snow flakes fallin' down the crack of my arse today while changing that door catch! ;D

I wouldn't bother taking the door card off again without changing the microswitches in the central locking motor. This is always the problem with central locking faults. If the motor is weak due to bad contacts in this switch, a bit of lube will only be a temporary cure if anything.
