;D thats what they use for remoulds aint it . Needs further investigation for suitable tyre , road noise might be an issue so will have to look at noise level stated with tyre ::)

100% it will, them things are proper nippy, may only be 60 BHP, but weighs nothing, they're surprisingly nippy little cars.

There light but not that light....basic power to weight calc of an Omega 3.0 V6 versus a 1.1 4 pot Citroen shows the Omega way ahead. :y
e.g. 800Kg at 60hp v 1700kg at 200hp. is 75hp per ton v 117hp per ton
-
I bet first gear & final drive in the 106 are a lot shorter than the Omega, though - probably more important than the difference in power to weight..

these powers are at the end of rpm scale .. my clit beats any 3 litre engine from a traffic light only exceptions are turbo japs..
plus an auto without locking the gears have no chance until it locks..
and another factor is that your tyres cant handle this much power immediately.. most bimmers were still spiniing when I leave them in dust ;D
-
look at this one.. 1.8 litre with 4 pots.. but.. ???

of course this race needs to be short ;D :(

I think your kidding yourself, if it won the first 10 foot then that would be it adn even that would be questionable (auto held at the stall point or manual)....question is, is your off the line driving ability equal or better to mine.....
-
Im really not worried , i know the pug wont ever be a match for the omega ;D Its the fuel savings im happy with . Although i have whats desired as a boy racer's car its just a runabout shopping trolley for me . Just getting it round all serviced and decent tyres on it .
-

That must be down to the average BMW driver, then, because a 3.2 Omega properly launched on a surface that's decent enough for any meaningful performance comparison is a long way from breaking traction, IME.
Yes, you can always provoke a loss of traction with 200+BHP, but it's not an impediment to the performance of an Omega, IMHO.
An even mildly powerful FWD hatch, on the other hand...

MX 5 has 140BHP in 1065kg for a Mk 2 (mk. 1 is lighter.). That's about 130 BHP/Tonne so better than the Omega.
Power to drag is another story.

mx5 beat omegas not only in short run also on the long run.. but for simplicity we are talking about a short run..not even a quarter mile..
-
What about my pug tyre's ;D ;D

As a regular driver of both a 3.2 Omega and a 1.8 Mk2 MX-5 I can assure you that it wouldn't have to be a very long run for the Omega to be back in front. ;)
This is where power to drag comes in, and the Omega is more slippery and more powerful. Besides, the MX 5 will run out of revs at 130 MPH. ;)
-

Er, black and round, should have at least four attatched to it, possibly five if the spare hasn't been stolen :y
