Title: td tyre size question
Post by: relluf on 25 January 2013, 19:52:25
Having had the old girl for a few years now ,its time for some new tyres , so rang local trusted guy and asked for some 205-55-16 (whats on her now) oh he says they wont fit your ****** big french thing, no says I they be for my omega, which he hasnt seen in four years or so of ownership, is that the correct size? so upon checking book says......

x25 dt  205-65-15 (not mine obviously wrong size)
x25 dt  225-55-16  (should this be mine)
x20 dth 225-55-16 (is this earlier version?)
So mine is a 98 mfl 2.5 td estate
What should she be wearing ?                      (apart from her lovely champagne coachwork!)

The only tyre size on a 16" rim on Omegas were 225/55/16, load index is 93 (minimum), and speed rating for TD I think is V (but double check that)

Yeah, 225/55/16 is quite an expensive size...  ...which is probably why it has the "wrong" ones on now

You can probably use 215/60/16, but they are not much cheaper. Or 205/65/16?
Can you get good tires from junk yard?

Too early for me to give a recommendation, particularly as the weather hasn't been great :-X, but they've performed well so far :y
