Having driven one of my manual 3.2's for the first in some time today I noticed the clutch is starting to feel worn. I suspect it's still got life in it, and is in no danger of going now...but I think getting a new clutch ready may not be a bad idea...this is where I need advice;
From what I understand the Y32SE clutch kit was an exchange unit, has anyone ordered one from VX in recent times, are they still available?
Is there an alternative? I.e. one from a later 3.0, even perhaps a Y26SE?

I may have a new V6 clutch at home...Ill have to check what it is exactly.
iirc it is 'just' the clutch, no extra bits

So...looks like all v6's are the same, although there are 2 possible part numbers, for some reason.
and that the R version (replacement as opposed to just buying) is half the price.
ill see if EPC sheds any further light
-
Fit a torque converter ::)
-
Thank you James! Very interesting, and at the TC price of £109...considerably cheaper than I thought. All dependant I suppose on if VX have any left.
-
Fit a torque converter ::)
Thank you for the offer TB! I'll pop it round tomorrow for you to do :P
-
EPC indicates
93185903 is the KIT for 2.6 and 3.0
93185904 is the KIT for 2.5
90542982 is clutch for 2.5
90543245 is clutch for 2.6 and 3.0
No mention of 3.2, guessing as police spec only
So looks like 2.5 had one, and anything bigger had the other.
-
Im working tonight, but I'll check what Ive got when I get up tomorrow afternoon!
-
Once again, many thanks James :y
I suppose the vehicle will do 5k miles a year at max, so the 2.6/3.0 may well do, providing it physically fits :-\
-
Looking at the TC extract, it shows the R models being the same as the 3.0 so think we can assume the 2.6, 3.0, 3.2 have the same parts
-
Try a LUK kit from buypartsby ;)
-
In addition to my pm...
Part numbers are...
Release bearing 90465672
Friction Plate 90543245
Pressure Plate 90487294
Relate to Plod Spec 3.2 clutch as fitted by Charles Warner, who serviced Lincolnshire Constabularys' Omegas.
HTH, Al.
Luk ok but didn't last as long as the original one, 100k, vs 135k. But maybe that's just me ::)
-
Need to work out what I have...
Its a full kit
VX label states
R1520063 which is the 2.0 kit
But also with R1520066 added?
Ill work out what it is somehow!
-
Parts I have seem to be
LUK 245 01
LUK 414 01
and an unnamed bit
cant seem to identify them any further :(
-
Every Omega clutch I have worked on had a LUK fitted from the factory.
Use a kit for the 3.0 :y

Thank you Mark, and all for your assistance - Now I know what to get in advance, for when the clutch does give up.
