Maybe the shooter saw it as food?

Maybe the shooter saw it as food?
Is that a serious statement? I'm sure they would just pop down to tescos and buy one for a couple of quid if that's the case. No, they did it because they're sick, twisted, evil bastards who like to inflict pain and cruelty and bring nothing to this world but negativity. They're insecure, inadequate people who have no real hobbies or interests, and have nothing about them so resort to trying to be 'macho'. How macho is it to injure from a distance, by comparison, a harmless creature with a powerful illegal weapon.

I hope he will shoot himself >:(

Disgusting! >:(

You'd think that the RSPCA would have someone who could put the duck out of it's misery quickly and cleanly if they couldn't catch it, rather than just 'monitor' it.... :-\

You'd think so wouldn't you. I'm sure they'd try harder if it was a swan or some other 'more interesting' bird. ???

A lad at work has close relatives that live in the sticks somewhere in Canada, one of his nephews - so many removed - made his first kill at 12 yr old. The difference is that, because of the kind of place they live in, they ate what he shot. My meat has nothing to do with animals & comes on a polystyrene tray from Tesco/Asda. :-X

My next door neighbour when I lived up north used to hunt small animals to make pies.
He kept is alsation permanently outside in his yard on a metal chain for security next to his pigeon loft. It was really sad to see as it was so skinny and looked like it was dying. The pigeons were well fed though.
I lived in a really rough area.
My point is that there definitely ARE some people around who would shoot a duck to eat. Unfortunately I know this by experience.

You certainly did....... ;) ;)

Nothing wrong in shooting a duck (or anything else)to eat imo.It needs to be shot by someone who knows whats what though,so its a clean instant kill. A brain dead retard who shoots a crossbow bolt through its neck and then leaves it like that, should suffer the same experience.

And that is the crux of the matter ... as a kid I was taught that if I didn't shoot well enough to kill the target .. fowl or game ... it was down to me to track the animal, find it and dispatch it humanely.
I spent many hours wandering woods to do so .. and if it taught me nowt else, it made sure I only shot when I was certain to hit .. risky "possibles" wasted too much time searching and not shooting.
It is the leaving of this bird in this condition that is appalling, as it is "possible" that it was actually shot to be eaten ... but somehow, given the choice of weapon, I doubt it.
