Ahoy there, have any of you chaps come across a full inbox of messages on the NCDC 2015 that you weren't able to delete?
Basically my unit will display your inbox is full, you have 29 messages please delete etc...
But when I enter the Message sub menu the Phone part of the system does a reboot, I lose signal but the stereo is still working. Sometimes I can't even select the Message sub menu as it is greyed out.
Ignoring the command doesn't help either as it pops every few seconds when you 'Return', especially annoying when using the in built sat nav.
Any ideas how I can get these messages deleted or get rid of the command?

Original Sim in there or Sim or Card holder issue?, what happens if you try another Sim?
-
It's the SIM I bought for the car 2.5 years ago.
Swapping in another would mean buying a new SIM as it needs to be held within the card holder itself. Like below:
The SIM itself remains in the card and isn't to be popped out.

The Sims breakout and normally leave the breakout pins intact on the holder, which means you can put another Sim in there with some masking tape or simular behing it to hold in situ, done loads like this but fully understand if you dont feel like messing with it.

Have you or anyone else done this with the NCDC 2015, if so I'll give it a bash.
If not I guess I'll end up doing it anyway haha, new SIM wouldn't be the end of the world.

Yep on the same model, not sugesting this your fix but if was me I'd be playing with the Sim before suspecting the Telematics Unit.
-
you use to get the same inbox full issues with nokia handsets! back then the old sim could only store 20messages or similar on them. put the sim in a handset that you could access the sim msgs and delete and put back, should do the trick? :y
HTH!

The SMS are stored on the SIM, try using another device to delete them.
Yes, I have seen the same problem on my telematics unit.

Hmm. I wonder if I still have any mobiles that take a full size SIM? ::)
Probably 5V SIMs, so little use these days. I do have a reader/writer somewhere that might do it. Probably easier to just pop it out of the card and put it in a mobile.

is such a thing still in existence? ::) ::)

Still got our first phone, and still have original box. it is a Nokia 2110, takes full size card but no idea if it would be compatible.

2 versions of them from memory, GSM and PCN, still got mine complete with charger, so sometimes gets charged up and taken out. Always gets a good laugh when slapped on the table or bar with your car keys. :y
-
Thanks chaps, got it sorted.
Taking the SIM out and deleting in my phone was my plan, but thought I'd ask here beforehand in case there was a more convenient option. Selo-taped the SIM back into the card and got a clear inbox now. :y
-
Glad its sorted :y
Sellotape not idea TBH, as it can get goo'y after time or with heat, try Magic Tape or Masking tape at some point. ;)

2110 took a small SIM. Not that it matters :)

Got the same problem. 21 messages, all from 02, and inbox can't cope.
Currently scouring staff at work for a suitable mobile not locked to any other network.
It's not looking good. ;D
-
I have a cupboard full of mobiles (and my own is on O2) if you get stuck. ;D

Doesn't need to be unlocked. You just want to delete messages.
Of course, finding someone with a phone with a full sized SIM is more of a challenge...

Oh it does. It wouldn't even start the pho... Oh hang on, I saw the sim failed message and didn't look any further on a tesco handset. Arse. I remember now, the menus can still be accessed. :y
Although on another O2 handset we couldn't find the relevant texts on the sim. Only the owners texts. :(
It's all so long ago... ;D
-
Tesco is an O2 MVNO (JV actually) so that handset should work
-
Modern handsets often store the texts on the phone. Some you can switch between phone and SIM.
I have a SIM read/writer that might do the job, and takes credit card sized SIMs. Now, where's that PC that has a proper serial port, and windows 2K? ::)
-
Hmmm, you've reminded my, I have a load of lappys with card readers, for certificate based logons. I wonder, with right software, if they could read phone sims :-\
-
Used to have a 5110 kicking around here, but can I find the poxy thing. ::)
She's probably traded it in. :(

That doesn't take a full sized SIM either - it takes same size as my superior gayphone ;)

No no, it takes the normal size sim. Just brake the sim out of the credit card holder, then tape it back in when done.

That particular hand set doesn't work if the sim doesn't register with the network. It merely allows demo mode.
-
Eventually found a Nokia hand set that allowed access to the sim memory, as opposed to the phone memory to was using.
O2 texts turned off. >:(
