Might be a problem routing the wiring around the engine bay ... reckon that it'd work, though ;)

I wouldn't worry too much Wilf, they do that from time to time. Has it been through a car wash? :)

Check grommets are sealed at the back of light unit , run car with lights on an will dry it out  :)

Pattern bulb might take longer to dry it  ;D :y

I suffered with this on one car, did wonder after the event whether I could have got a small packet of dessicant in there, you know that stuff that comes with goods sometimes to keep the moisture out.

Just a thought.

I would take the unit off the car and point a hairdryer in there for a while, then leave it stood in a position (in a warm place like an airing cupbourd)where any moisture can drain out where the bulbs attach.

It removing the unit, make sure the rubber vent is clear on the base. It usually is, but one to check.

I suspected the seal had failed between the glass and black backing, on one of my other cars. Maybe careful application of a hosepipe will reveal if water is getting in.

But usually it evaporates off with use ime. ;)

this use to happen regular on my carlton,
was told to remove the rubber boots dry out with a hair drier and leave the boots off for a week or so then put back on, worked a treat.
