Title: coil pack v6
Post by: scottambrose on 31 January 2013, 13:01:09
when changing my rocker covers i noticed the coil pack on the passenger side had some rust around one the legs at the top. and yesterday i had a random misfire which went when i turned the car off and back on again. its the second time its done this in 4 months and all i get in the code is random misfire for those 3 cylinders. i can get a bosch coil pack for 65 pounds new. are bosch ok and is it likely going to be this at fault?

The misfire is set iff by hard acceleration and as soon as you turn the engine off and re start its fine

make sure it really is a Bosch one - there are plenty of ebay specials masquerading as Bosch.

Bosch were the OE manufacturer

If you can get genuine Bosch for that price get them. Usually they are over £100.
I found these on eBay - search for item listing 290576054834.
I got a 2-4-6 in December 2011 and it's lasted so far.
Make sure you seal the scuttle as described elsewhere on OOF - it really does make a difference in stopping the water dripping on the pack and in the plug wells.
