Hi guys, as above, topped up when warning came on but it's come back.
i take it the sensor is fubared. is that the electric connection under the expansion tank? does it just need cleaning or replacing?
cheers :)

It maybe poss to clean the level float with some type of descaler but replacment tank prob the best bThey are not that expensive if i recall and they look nice as well. :y

Take the cap off and the float moves up and down the guide in the middle of the tank you cant get to it though.

Check the concocter underneath tank, open circuit means empty, shorting the connecter = full. ;)

If there's a golf ball type thing bobbing around the tank, then the retaining washer has come away :y
If you can find the washer before it vanishes into the engine, then it can be repaired with a soldering iron :y

Easiest way to do it is fit a new tank,as you cant buy the sensor,
and makes engine bay look mmm lurvly. £40.00 on tc.

Mine packed up recently so I replaced the tank as recommended here which does make the engine bay look new again. When I pulled out the electrical plug (tight fit) from the old tank I found that the flimsy glass reed switch had broken. I bought a replacement for a few pence and soldered it on to keep as a spare in case it breaks again. I would think that this is a common failure mode and am surprised it lasted for over 110,000 miles tbh.
