hi guys,
looking to re furb my MV6 Alloys . . just paint & a few scratches to fill.
So no real damage to repair .
Has anyone tried any of these 2 products & if so what was the out come ?

Ive used wurth wheel paint.Excellent stuff.Easy to get factory looking finish.Two cans will easily do four wheels.
Just buy a couple of individual cans and then use a different lacquer.RobG recommended a lacquer to me ,but I cant remember what it was called now. :y

hi albs, both kits are the complete set of primer, silver & laquer . . 3 cans in all & doubled up to 2 of each in the Wurth stuff.
The unbranded cheaper stuff is from a supplier near you at Halsted
Do you think the primer is not needed then ? just the silver & the laquer.
Hopefully Rob G will reply with the laquer he recommended . :y :y

Im pretty sure the lacquer wasnt wurth,Iirc it was Upol UV resistant.As for primer,it depends what state the wheels are in.If there are large areas of deep chipping and scratches then they will need to be rubbed down,and possibly a filler primer used before anything else.If there are smallish shallow scratches you might get away with light rubbing down and silver straight on top.Depends very much on condition imo.
The ones in the other link may be ok Al.I havent used them so dont know. ;)

Well wanna do decent job & there will be some deep scratch filling to be done , so was thinking of using the special Upol powder & liquid alloy wheel filler from the Halstead firm .
That special filler , & 2 x 500ml cans of primer, silver & lacquer (6 cans in all ) will be under £50 quid delivered .
I would only get 1 wheel re furbed by a specialist for that if I'm lucky , Downside is this paint is not the Wurth make :'( :'(
But must be worth a punt at that money ;) ;)

Did you use any primer or any filler at all ? and if so what type ? ;) ;)

I didn't use any primer although I probably should have (although the alloys still look good no peeling or anything just a little dirty), After spraying the wheels silver I used Hycote Clear Laquer, I found it to be free flowing without any hesitations or runs unlike Wurth Laquer which was disappointing maybe it was just a faulty can but at the price of Wurth I decided to try a brand I was familiar with and I had good results.
I didn't have to use any filler on any of the wheels luckily just had to rub them down smooth with scotch pads medium. I'd have had them done professionally but was quoted around £80 each wheel I was like F that :o :o ;D
It took me just over a week in total taking it easy and getting nice sunny days without rain.
Good luck with them and I look forward to some pic's :y :y

Aye I can't wait for some dry warm sunny weather and longer daylight hours, Everywhere I look just looks like one big swamp at the moment ;D
