Every time my auto 2.6 hits 46mph and changes up into 4th I want a manual again >:(
But.... every time I drive 300 miles from Cornwall to Kent (and then back 2 days later) I know that there as no way I could cope with all the manual gear changes. :(

press the "sports button" .. then it won't change or .. leave it in 3 .... :)

The 'sporty' button is getting a lot of use on the roads I drive on day to day in Cornwall.......
What occasionally catches me out is flooring it with button pressed seems to lead to a double kickdown, lots of revs (redline maybe?) and little forward motion.

I don't know the 2.6 gearing .. but the 3.2 ... put it in 2 and sports ... you have an awful lot of power and acceleration right up to 60 + and if thats not enough the roads are not proper twisties ... so use 3 :)

£400 is pretty ok for the amount of work and parts involved.. will the new clutch be re-cond ..?, I am really interested in getting it done, so how much notice do you need to gather up all the bits and book me a slot to get it done ..?

Woody, the aa route planner says youre 2 hours 20 mins away from me, its just a bit far to be honest. Respectfully, ill have to go with Serek on this one.
But I do appreciate your offering.
-
I think I'm a bit further than that.
No problem tho. As it happens, I'm doing another autoectomy next week now.

by any chance you have spare set up for manual conversion??
-
yes I'm sure I have.
-
This is something I would also like done to my 3.2, I have all the parts, just need someone to do it with, as I never taken a gearbox of a car.
-
What manual gearbox goes on the end of a 3.2 V6 ?
Is it the R28 ?

Standard 3.2 runs an R30 box, difference being 5th gear is "longer" than on the R28. Fitting an R28 is still acceptable though :)

It's only 38 bolts (includfing flywheel and clutch pressure plate), 3 spring clips and a healthy dose of gravity :y

what about the diff...? does it need changing too ..?

if you want better acceleration keep the auto diff.. they have shorter ratios.. but shaft will change..
