I have some scraping and squealing, general frictiony type noises coming from my passenger rear wheel area at low speeds. I suspect its the rear brakes. Just searching on the net, I see rear brake discs that are supposedly compatible with my 2.2 dti, varying in size. They are available in 12mm and 20mm thickness. Does anyone know which are the right ones for my car?

Check the pads, its more likely that's been filed right down :y
-
Check the handbrake cable isn't seizing in the nylon sleeve as well.

Hmm generaly when you get scraping noises its the handbrake shoes inside the disc causing it!
most but not all times its a spring broken and its catching on the inboard drum :y

right, garage says rear brakes are done and handbrake needs a bit of a fix. Back to my original question around 20mm vs 12mm discs as both seem compatible, which are the right ones? I guess the question really is does a 2002 2.2 dti have vented or solid rear brake discs.

Just occurred to me, do I need to buy a brake fitting kit along with the discs and pads?

Yes, it all generally falls apart when you remove it.
