Today when I started the car I noticed that the outside temperature was not showing on the little screen on the dash any more. Instead there was just an "F" where the temperature reading used to be. What does this mean? It's the only function I really use. I live in Norway and temperatures usally varies from -9 to + 5 degrees celcius during winter, and how slippery it gets depends greately on the temperature outside. At about 0 degrees it's extremely slippery while at -9 it's not bad at all.. So not beeing able to see the temperature really bothers me. I want this fixed!
So, what's the problem? Is it the sensor itself, or is there any other known issues? What do the "F" stands for anyway? I was out driving and everything was working perfectly. I park the car and a few hours later when I take it for another drive it suddenly didn't work any more..
Here's a picture to explain what I mean.

its normally just the sensor that sits at the bottom of the middle of the bumper, can sometimes be the wiring, which plugs in by the horns.
here they are about £6
It will also stop your climate control working :(

Hmm.. But the climate control works just fine! ? Seems to be just the reading in the display not working.

Climate is only linked to the outside air temp sensor on face lift cars, two separate systems on a prefacelift ;)

Yes, should have said face lift only sorry.
And on pre, is the sensor more to one side...cant remember now?

Left hand side, about 25cms forward from the wheel arch ;)

I'll try to replace the sensor then. I've been under there many times, but I've never actually seen that sensor. Is it in plain sight or somewhat hidden?

Fairly obvious :y :y

Sometimes the wiring in the area of the sensor/horn can take a beating, so a visual inspection needed before replacing sensor.

The wiring and the sensor both look ok. Is there any way to test the wiring/sensor to rule out one or the other?
-
Given that the sensor is pretty cheap (in the UK, anyway), might be worth just changing that.

The sensor is near the bottom of the page. Costs 146 NOK here in norway. (around 15£).

Exellent! I was afraid it would be more like 1000 NOK, sinse parts in general are so ridicilously overprized here.
Thank you so much! I'll go ahead and order one then! :y
