Title: Anyone near London who can repair/respray paintwork and bumpers
Post by: SMD on 11 February 2013, 21:23:32
A nice person has scuffed my front bumper and done a runner. Is there anyone on OOF that can repair/respray it?

Also a nice petrol shop attendant put a 12" scratch on the boot lid. Might as well get that sorted at the same time. Will post pics when the missus allows me to use HER laptop.  ::)

It's worth a polish first, you'd be suprised what can be made good, up to a point of course.

Chris, I was thinking that. While my car was undergoing insurance repairs last year I asked them to look at the scratches, they told me it was too deep to polish out. I also spoke to a guy who does polishing who also confirmed this.

Does anyone know anything about sprayless scratch repair? http://ssreurope.com/

Chips Away gave me a nice quote of £300  ;D

Nearly the value of the car

Crossed my mind but would still be difficult to find one in decent condition

No that won't polish it's gouged the plastic sadly. :)

IMO, leave it. Some fe@ker will just damage it again, odds on. :-\

Shop around for a cash quote, if really wanting it fixed. £100 should see it painted.

But a used one is worth a look too. :-\

Yep, most likely happen a week after the repair. My brother had a similar sort of damage repaired for £120 on his Astra H so probably can be done for £100

Following a similar incident, I had an Astra G Coupe rear bumper remedial work/respray/blend in and mop of entire car for around £150 I think, and that was at a first rate independent bodyshop too.

I do get preferential rates but I typically pay;
£50 for a large bumper fully resprayed off the car, £150 for front and rear with a few blends across the car. Around £500 - £600 will sort every panel, full polish etc, with not a blemish left. His work is very very good, I've never had an issue.

I am travelling to London fairly often, I can leave you a temporary vehicle and have your vehicle done here in Oxfordshire.

That is a bloody good offer Josh  :o,  too good to pass

When are you next coming to London  :o

Could live without the car for a few days and wouldn't want to risk any damage to the temporary car. How far is the place from a station?

No problem, I'll make him aware of the vehicle and ask when he can fit it in.
I will be flitting to and from London 4 or 5 times in the next 2 weeks.
I would rather leave a vehicle with you, as it means I can just drop yours back and continue with my journey. I do understand if you'd rather not have one though.
I tend to drive to London or arrive via other means if possible. I could get the train, do whatever I need to do, collect your vehicle - get the work completed, and drop it back, or you can get the tain to Oxford. I'm 4 miles from Oxford city centre, where the train station is, the bodyshop is a further 8 miles away. Of course I'd collect you.
Feel free to PM me  :y
