Title: Removal of Sir David Nicholson
Post by: Rods2 on 14 February 2013, 17:56:15
If anybody is interested below is an epetition link to try and get him removed as head of the NHS

http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/45576 (http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/45576)

He was chief executive of Mid-Stafford Trust while 1,200 people died unnecessarily in terrible conditions, so as per normal in Government organisations he was promoted! By all accounts a jobsworth, who refuses to resign for the tragic failures of an health trust he was in charge of and is now in charge of all of an increasingly failing NHS with many more unnecessary deaths coming to light every day, due to the targets at all costs attitudes of administrators instigated by the last Government.

Looks like his initial response to  problems when they were first reported to him was to force the whistle blower out of his job,and then have him paid £500,000 compo (from taxpayers money presumably) as long as he agreed to a gagging order.
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/health/healthnews/9869579/NHS-whistleblower-paid-500000-to-keep-quiet-over-patient-safety-breaks-silence-to-expose-culture-of-fear.html

We need the return of accountabilty for those in public life in this country.

Done. :y

The whistleblower said "this is a culture of fear,oppression..." what do we expect from (Nicholson) a former member of the more militant wing of the British communist party.

There's a bit of a problem here in that this guy is just one, who happens to be at the top.

I have close links with the NHS and have worked with (not for) it for many years. Quite some time ago a corporate culture crept in. People were appointed to well paid management jobs on how good their powerpoint presentation was and if they could "talk the talk", nothing to do with common sense and real capability.

Since then all information to whatever Government, has been provided by these managers and the other managers who were appointed by them in order to disperse responsibility. This is how the whole culture of "Gloss" and cover-up came about. Even now I see potential disasters, for example ancient and sometimes unsafe equipment that only gets replaced when there is a risk that waiting lists and therefore statistics will be impacted. This "corporate culture" spreads downwards to even the most fundamental level of basic human care.

Many years ago waiting lists of 18 months ot more were commonplace. The last Governemnt, yes under Mr Bliar, did much to reduce this. But the current situation is also the result.

I could go on . . . . . but I would probably bore myself   ???
