You may wish to make sure that you have an international driving licence with you. £5.50 from one of a few Post offices equipped to sell them.
The rule change only affects Florida and if you haven't got one you may not be able to rent a car and you may be liable for a court appearance and a fine if stopped by the police. Operative word is may.
The rules will no doubt be clarified in time for anyone else travelling in a few weeks/months time.
