Do I need to drop the rear sub frame right out or can I just lower it down a wee bit to change the diff.
-
why move sub frame diff housing drops down? iirc :y
-
Not done an Omega before. Done a few Carltons some time ago. Getting to the top bolts is a nightmare and rewuires the sub frame to be lowered.

in omega it lot less work no need drop sub frame
just pull drive shafts off then you will have lots space to play
easy job can be done under hour :y

Hmmm, let me see. So you are suggesting keeping with an engine that compromised handling and did not have a hope in hell of ever meeting the modern emission standards

have to agree the straight 6 is alot better to work on and also more mpg compared to the v6

Omega B diff is a lot easier to change then Omega A - it doesn't have the top bolts, so you don't need to drop the subframe at all.
disconnect the single hexalobular bolt into the front of the subframe from the mounting bracket and then the two similar bolts from the rear cover into the subframe.
Omega B has a "remote-mounted" diff - i.e. it's not bolted solidly to the subframe.
