Is it possible to fit the new type of oilfilter to a engine which has the old type?
Engine is an x30xe (I have got 2 engines, one with the new type and one with the old)

As you can go the other way..I dont see why not, assuming you can get the thread out that the old style goes onto..
Why would be the question...old are cheaper and easier to change!

Most people do it the other way around so can't see why not ;)

Is the housing of the new filter fitted the same way as the old type filter is?
The reason for changing is that i think i remember that the new type is less messy?
with the old filter the oil is rushing down the engine block?

You'll get some spillage with the new one as well
