Very quiet indeed, Doesn't it have double glazed windows or something ?.

And there's a fair few around for sale £5,000 - £15,000 .. One hell of a car for the money.

The only trouble with a car like this is ...... its potential to drain your wallet should something go amiss - & there's plenty of stuff to go wrong  ;) ;)

I agree, but a lot of cars are like that,if the v6 diesel in my Signum went pop it would probably scrap the car but hey ho :D

Likewise most cars. But there are some massively expensive bits on a Merc like that without even looking under the bonnet.  ;) ;) ;) ;)

My last boss had one of these AMG monsters - they are quite a handful, specially in the snow/ice ;)

I've been looking at Lexus LS400 around 1997-2000 and apparently according to AutoTrader the V12 Merc does 0-62 in 6.6sec and the 4.0 V8 LS400 in 6.9sec and both of them top speed 155mph there's hardly much in it .. Somehow I was expecting a quicker 0-60 than that from the V12  :-\

The Mercedes CL in any engine is an incredible bargain, it was Britain's fastest depreciating car for a few years but loads available at 5k, all have double glazing, Bose, Pillarless coupe, leather and after 2002 has the soft close doors and boot, widescreen satnav (command), massage seats and keyless go.  Weak point is the EAS pump that controls the air suspension but otherwise very reliable.

As you can tell I have been looking at these for a while.....   :)

I thought all the AMG's had the turboed or superchargered V8 fitted not the V12  :-\

Just be aware of any Merc with Sensotronic Brake Control.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sensotronic_Brake_Control
MB have fixed the fault for free in the States but seem to be able to get away with not doing the same over here ...... it's mega bucks to fix when it fails - and apparently it does fail frequently
