Title: Omega LPG Revs running high??
Post by: OpelJay on 24 February 2013, 20:24:46
Ok short an sweet...

Revs are fine when running on Petrol however, when switched over to the gas when I stop at the lights the revs are stuck at 1500 if I put it in gear and lift clutch with breaks on the revs settle back down and stay there fine. Seems a little strange can someone shed some light on this please :)

Can you give us some info on the LPG kit you've got fitted? Maybe a couple of pictures.

I would love to put any pics up but could never work out how to on here.
The conversion is standard as it was built and roled of the production line as it is today, hence why it's called a "duel fuel" :)

It wasn't fitted on the production line... They never were ;)

Guessing its a Koltec Necam system but can't be 100% certain.

I would suggest starting with basics and checking/cleaning throttle body, breathers and Idle Control valve :y

Whilst doing it, have a look for some sort of ID on the system... If I'm right then there's good knowledge and advice on cleaning the LPG distributor on www.lpgforum.co.uk

They say every day is a school day :D
Cool I'll get some carb cleaner tomorrow and give that a shot it doesn't run high revs on fuel tho?

I agree it's a bit of a long shot with it being ok on petrol but you need to rule out the normal, more obvious potentials first. Perhaps you could get some photos up of the LPG stuff :-\

Normally I'd agree, but it only does it on LPG.

driver may not notice.. lpg is more sensitive..

Airleaks to throttle can cause wild rpm
check all lpg hoses and vacuum hoses with carb cleaner test and/or fairy liquid. depending on vacuum or pressure use.

Gone over the engine bay no air leaks?
Sprayed wd40 on throttle housing springs as well the problem still persists

Worth checking the idle control valve, IMHO. If it's a little sticky, it could be that it has a tendency to stick around the position that it needs to be in for idle on LPG, but is better around the petrol idle position. Give it a clean out with carb cleaner and a little light oil and see what happens.

Failing that, it needs some live data reading to figure out what's going on.

I'll defo give that a try it does look mucky around the housing thanks for that I think that will work

No air leaks, cleaned idle control valve and throttle housing through and it's still doin it. Had a mechanic look at it he said it could be a "step up valve" as the gas has an auto devise that revs a little more and they can play up anyone elaborate on that?

Going to need more info and probably some pictures to be able to help more
