Colleague at work had one, terrific performance & very comfortable, he sold it because the front carpets always got wet when it rained, tried new seals on doors etc. Could not cure this problem have heard of others with same problem (all types of Mondeo ) so check footwells for this.

Earlier Mondeos had issues with the pollen filter housing leaking water into the car but thought they had cracked that problem with the later ones.

Go well, ride is quite harsh. Don't bury your foot in the carpet coming out of a corner until straight, esp in the wet ::)

I tried to race one off a roundabout onto a dual garrigeway in Milton Keynes when I had my 3.2 Elite - It went past me like I was standing still :(  very quick car.

when its running listen for a ticking sound from back of engine, known as the tick of death on them and sign head gasket on way out,this also shows with oil seapage from same area, also from cold you may hear the cam chain rattling as tensioner seal goes and looses preasure overnight, i had the st24 estate  which is same engine just 175bhp and that would do 140 without blinking   hth

The biggest issue I have seen with 10+ year old Fords is how much they just fall apart so check them very closely.

the st220 is the mark 3 with the 3.0 v6 not the 2.5 like the st200 st24

One of the best handling FWD cars ever, reputedly. But still FWD. I would, and have been, very tempted as a second car though.

I thought the ST24 was a 2.5 and the ST220 a 3.0 ???

ST220 version, think its a more exclusive car than Aston Martin Vantage, going by Top Gears sales figures?

Always liked Mondeo's too, if its a choice of Insignia/Mondeo, think it would have to be the Ford. Much more comfy!

Not much toys in Fords usually  :-\

(Unless they've changed their act in recent years)

Errr, uhmmm  ::)

Well, its owner did throw the keys at me, and ask what I thought of it. We went from Bletchley to Costco and back, so along H10, and up V11, and I was gunning it  :-[

After going to Belgium in a Mundano, and France last year in an Insignia, I'd go for the Insignia.

Once you get to Titanium and Titanium X, you get a few toys with the Mundano, but even then, most are extras.  Same with Insignia TBH, base ones are basic, top end have a few toys, but still plenty you can tick on the options sheet. Unlike Omega Elites.

Really must drive one for a decent distance, for me initial impressions of the seats are not that great  :-\

There's one round here that plays a bit. It just has the legs on the omega 3.2. But I have to wait for him to get on the power out of corners to get a fair comparison tbh. Not sure if that's due to front wheel drive or driver confidence though. :-\
