Title: Engine Cooling Fan Not Kicking In
Post by: goose on 25 February 2013, 21:54:05
How annoying.

For some reason the Engine Cooling Fan (?The one at the rear?) is not kicking in!
Air conditioning fans kick in without issue.

I've changed the Fan Switch and checked the relay!

Tracing back, the 'thing' that trips the relay into providing power to the fan is... not! It's not happening! I can remove the cover from the relay and manually push the relay ?'arm'? and the fan jumps into action!

But what is causing the relay not to kick in itself????

The 2 at the front are the cooling fans on a v6

?!?! What's the one at the back, then ?!?!

Because. The two at the front only kick in when the Climate Control is on.
If the car is idling, it will reach warning light and no fans will kick in at all!

The one attached to radiator is main cooling fan - the two at the front are called "auxilary coling fans" and are controlled by air con ;)

Check Fuse #4 (15amp) in cabin fuse box under steering wheel ;)
