Hmmm, tough call.

Belt will probably want changing...tensioner and rollers may well be ok

I agree with Mark, just change the belt so long as tensioners haven't gone badly rusty :y

mmmm Is it worth the risk ???

Cost of a full kit V cost of rebuilding the engine if it lets go ???

I think for piece of mind, if it were mine, I'd probably do the kit.  But it does seem as waste.

I agree with your sentiments... but is there any way of telling how many years the kit has been sat in a box?  :-\

If I had to put money on it, I'd say it'll be fine for ages to come. In the circumstances - changing belt only is my vote.

But are you confident enough to offer a rebuild at your cost if changing just the belt goes wrong ;D ;D

Sat in a box, wrapped in greaseproof paper, on the shelf in a dry and probably heated warehouse, is very different to being actually installed on a  large lump of metal that will heat and cool as the temperature changes in Sassenachs garage, with the further possibility of damp from condensation as well.

All it takes is for one ball in one bearing race to have corroded enough to break the surface, and that bearing race is heading for toast .. and its had 5 years in which to corrode ... I doubt many spares sit on a shelf for 5 years without moving ...

:(
