Title: Where can I get Gaskets ??
Post by: Jusme on 28 February 2013, 15:20:02: Anyone else have a problem with gaskets for their Miggy ?? 'Once again' I need gaskets, a cylinder head gasket set to be precise. Two weeks ago the bloke repairing my Miggy ordered a head set from his local factors, nothing yet ? Elite Pete kindly put me on to another respected supplier last weekend. I phoned Monday morning and was told I would be phoned back. Waited until last evening then e-mailed, got a reply this morning : < Sorry about that we have tried several of our manufacturers and we have had no luck as yet. It seems the head gaskets are not available to make up the sets, sorry.> Any help would be greatly appreciated... :y

Car in question is a 3.2 btw.

Call Charles Warner parts dept on Outer Circle Drive in Lincoln. Kev is particularly helpful there. They do TC discount - but point that out at the point of enquiry just say Autobahnstormers if they ask which account. I'll pick then up for you and get any discount if you want.

Or probably easier to deal with Andy C who could post them to wherever is necessary.

That being the reason the gaskets are hewn from pure unobtainium, presumably?

I can't recall ever hearing of a 3.2 head gasket failure.. Worth checking the oil cooler before the old gaskets are disturbed? Or too late? ::)

Post by: Jusme on 01 March 2013, 12:50:20: Hi Kevin. They didn't fail. But the valves went 'bonk bonk bonk bonk bonk bonk' etc. Due to the fact that the mate ? (ex) who replaced the valves for me after the timing belt went, forgot to tighten up the bolts on the upper guide pulley backing plate. Hence the sha**ed pulleys, backing plate and tensioner pulley, not to mention the shiny new valves that had been in a month... >:(
