Mate of mine has an ex-plod Granada 2.9i, it's sometimes running a bit lumpy. The Granada forum I've found is seemingly moribund (after all, when did you last see one?) - anyone know if you can imitate our beloved paperclip test, and if so which pins to bridge?
I've had an amateurish Google but I'm not finding anything specific. And I know it's not an Omega, but it's still a thumping great V6 so it's alright in my book ;)

Note really, how old is it, Ive seen some stuff floating around re Ford Code reading from the Dash but seems either some sort of Test or if any codes that do come up dont relate to the real fault codes anyway.
-
i think that would be for later ford digi dashes,im sure you can do paper clip test, iirc diagnostic port is in engine bay
-
Not alot on those engines :-\ Maf or icv might be a starting point...

Oh yeah, it's a 1994 car, might help. I think we're quite lucky to have plenty of active members on here, ain't we...
It tends to be OK when dry, but if there's damp in the air or it's raining, apparently that's when it starts misbehaving. I'm leaning towards a good check of the ignition components, first off...

I've got that open in another tab, haha - it's nowhere near as active, nor as Pete-friendly*, as this place. :y
*easy to use, with no text speak and nice big things to click in a semi-drunken haze

I am still a member there but my 2.9 went to the scrap heap in the sky and the site is not as active as it used to be there are a lot less Grannys and scorpions left now. :'( :'(

My mate's is cracking, one small rust bubble, but the rest of it is immaculate. And in an, erm, unusual spec too - I've got the job of detailing it so I'll be putting some pics up...

Is it the 2.9 Cosworth?, thay had sensor to ECU wiring cooking issues due to heat in the engine bay.

Sorry to sound negative about them. There is an estate one about 100yards from where I live, the guy is an idiot anyway (he is politely called bob the builder) and the bonnet of the thing is never shut. He has owned it since before I moved here in 1997. And apart from his builders van it is his daily driver. Only positive I can say about is the body work looks good from a distance anyway, never seen it close up. He is the kind of guy who thinks he is hard man until you call his bluff. Then he won't even look you in the face.

I will look forward to seeing them mate. :y :y Mine was the last of the scorpio IA a 95 and it was fully loaded the thing I really miss about it compared to the Omega is the heated front screen. :'(

Never had any probs with mine the engine was as sweet as, :) just rusted because I live near the sea. >:(

Never did feel comfortable driving my 2.9 Cosworth Sad Face one, always seem to have a blip or second thoughts as though it was about to break down and die at any moment, did make a nice noise though, shame they never made a 3 peddle version.

Find a slightly scabby Sierra XR4x4 spend an afternoon and hey presto one manual Granny Cosworth 4x4 8)
Sadly I broke mine otherwise I might still have one on my drive ::)
-
As an aside, does it have its battery cover fitted? One of mine needed the firewall patching as water had gotten under the battery tray. On the face of it not a big deal, but there are a few ecus behind the glovebox/above the passenger footwell/beneath the battery :-\

I've had two, and have fitted the engines to other cars(2 Capris, a mk2 Granada and a Superminx). There is a diagnostic port in the engine bay that you plug a 'code reader' into. This is basically an LED that you count the flashes on, and look up the fault in a list. I probably still have one somewhere that you're welcome to. But, I'm in France until the weekend so it will be a while until I can dig it out. I also have Practical Mewchanics article on diagnosing the 2.9 which is very handy; I'll happily scan it for you.
Be advised that 2.9 are EEC4, and have a very limited diagnostic facility. Much of it can be done with a multi-meter and some swearing. Noid lights for the injectors are also worth a go.
What is it actually doing?

You're a bunch of top blokes, thanks all!
