Post by: scottambrose on 06 March 2013, 21:02:04
My mates fiesta zetec s decided rto explode today apparantly it revved to the max on the motorway and wouldnt cut out then it smokes and dumped its oil. The casinng where the gearbox joins the engine has seperated and split wide open and pushed all the bolts out. And nowthe engines siezed. :o

Bet it is the diesel version and it has picked up oil from the sump or turbo seal, both of which will cause it to max out on revs regardless of the throttle or ignition key

No its the petrol 1.6 2002 model the trottle cable isnt stuck or appearing damaged. Ivenever seen a gearbox housing crack open all the way around with a gap of about2cm around it. The wholecasing is shattered

I am surprised. The gearbox casings go when the clutch or flywheel try to make a bid for freedom. Seen that a few times. You should find the starter motor is in pieces as well.

Sounds like it was dropped into 3... Do they still have those crappy rubber mounts on the gear linkage? :-\
