Hi guys I know I seem to be forever typing on here and some people may be sick of seeing my name pop up and I'm truly sorry for that but being a car enthusiast this is what I like to do and like many people have said previously this is a nice environment to chat random crap or very informative up to date Miggy talk.
My latest issue is under heavy acceleration the revs seem to stay the same when I release the clutch pedal it doesn't seem to release fully so the revs don't match the speed is this a worn clutch (196k baring in mind) or a dual mass issue there is no unusual noise no ticking or grinding the pedal has always been a high release since Ive owned it but I haven't driven another manual Miggy to compare
Thanks for the help Guys
Sam

do you mean it is reving higher than normal?
-
sounds like a failed/slipping clutch to me :(
-
If it is try this, take it to a flat road and when you are travelling keep your foot on the accelerator and push the clutch pedal down till the engine is reving then let the clutch out quickly if it still revs and gradually slows the revs down it is more than likely it is done for, if it picks up and the revs drop quickly then the clutch should be ok

Well I know at busy t junctions you have to pull out in a hurry and like tonight it didn't do the nasty one wheel spin it just sort of pulled out slowly with revs slowly dropping down to match speed

Sounds like you need another clutch Sam.

So if I look into having it sorted as I want to get it done would It just be the clutch because I know the DTi has an early dual mass which has a high tolerance to some modern dual masses but I'm wondering could I just get away with a few hundred quid instead of several hundred quid :-\

You'll only know when the gearbox is off & you can have a look at it ..... anything else is purely guess work ;) ;) You say you've no undue clanging & knocking, so that's in your favour. Fingers crossed. :y :y :y
-
Not sure if you can convert it to the old type standard clutch :-\ but most cars and vans that are DMF can be I am sure somebody here will be able to confirm it. ;)
-
I did start to look into if anyone had done a solid flywheel conversion for a DTi but haven't seen a story for an omega DTi with the y22dth engine as of yet
-
I would say it needs a clutch. So long as you've got no vibration or clunking and banging from the gearbox area you should be ok with the DMF :y
