My wife went into rear of an Audi nearly 2 years ago - a roundabout shunt where driver in front started/stopped. Very low speed - Audi had just a broken rear light cluster.
today our insurance company phoned to say the other party now claiming physical injury and asking for her side of story. Incredible - this is just outright fraud.
-
is it??...i had that sort of accident and due to the accident i now need a hip replacement :-\
-
sorry about that - but did you take 2 years to find that out?
-
I suppose we might have only been given part of story but insurance comapnies should put other party's insurers on ontice about possbility of a claim
-
well it was initially diagnosed as soft tissue damage and after 2 1/2 years they decided to x ray me when pain got a lot worse so in a way yes BUT pain started within 2 days of accident
but i think you have 3 years after accident to bring a personnal injury claim

You do, and some people whilst originally dismissing a claim due to "minor" discomfort then find out the injury is not going away and get a phone call from an accident chaser claims company who spell out how much you could get for your injuries. Human nature takes over from there! ::) ::) ;)

Unfortunately this is the outcome of the increase in "Ambulance Chasers Direct" type companies and the trend this country is following to becoming as litigious as America >:( >:(
OK, this could be completely genuine but I fear it is more likely to be in response to a "cold call" about the accident ::)
Funnily enough I keep getting them and I haven't even had an accident! SWMBO did and it was her fault, even though the 3rd party didn't claim (or stop to exchange details or even check for damage :o) ::)|

i did get a cold call from an ambulance chaser when i had the accident, when i told them i did'nt need their services they got rather irate then went onto swearing at me down the phone at which point i put the phone down on them..I did not need them as i worked for the royal mail group at the time so i had a solicitor apointed by RMG...he came in useful for getting rid of the ambulance chasers, and they got my number from an 'accident management' company RMG employed they got shot of them after that incident :y

Ahh... When my car was hit by a RMG vehicle in the late 90's it should have been written off but because it was self-insured they did the repairs at 90% of vehicle value :o :o
BTW, I wasn't trying to infer that you had hit them :y

"Have you been involved in an accident ? Call this number . . . . . . . "
A few years ago I got side scraped by a supermarket truck on a motorway. No injuries, no drama, no spectacular crashes. Car got fixed, in fact better than it was before. :y
Even now I still get calls, sometimes VERY pushy and persuasive, about making a claim. Am I sure I don't have a back problem ? I have very strong feelings about the compensation "industry" whether it's injury or PPI, or whatever. It's just exploiting people's greed, and costing consumers a whole ton of cash, and it all needs to be paid for somehow. >:( Leeches >:(

The part that shocked me was the fact that your own insurance company will give these vultures the heads-up. In return for a referral fee, of course. If the ins. co. doesn't tell them, the repairer will.

Indeed, and then your insurance company will charge you more premium!! ::) ::) ::) ::)
Win, win, win for them, lose, lose , lose for us! >:( >:(

We got hit head on by a royal mail van, and as you say, Self Insured, they were determined not to pay the full amount, even though their driver told his boss and the police that it was HIS fault
Needless to say I now have a very low opinion of that company
