Hi Ian,
First obvious question is Does the car get hot enough - both indicated on guage, and heat of pipes in the engine?
Is this at max heat setting?
No air locks?
HBV plumbed correctly and working?
To your knowlege, have any leak stoppers like radweld been used in the car?
-
Yes engine temp upto 90c and both heater pipes hot
heat set on max.
As to air lock not sure how to check
HBV is correctly fitted as per pictures on forum
No radweld to my knwledge

ok...so you have enough heat to warm the car...
Are the pipes going to the matrix hot?
Airlocks - heaters on full, fans on full, car hot with header cap off and squeeze hoses to 'burp' the system..
Probably not needed, but as youve opened various bits for flush, hbv, and thermostat, its possible I guess.
radweld can block the matrix, causing frequent flushes to be needed.
Guess if the matrix pipes at the bulkhead are hot, but your not getting hot air, then it does point to a blocked matrix which could need a more thorough clean, or even replacement.
Have you flushed it throughly both ways, at a reasonable pressure?
used any heating cleaners like fernox?

I don't know about the facelift models, but on the mini-FL climate control you could get it to re-calibrate the heater flaps by holding the Off and Auto buttons down for 10 seconds (maybe less - I just hold them down til it starts the process).
Oh, in fact, a quick search reveals the same works on facelift models...

I had the same problem for years, tried all the remedies but eventually had to bite the bullet and change the matrix. There are some excellent "How too's" on here.

Are the pipes going to the matrix hot? Seem too be hot when at idle cooler when engine above 800 rpm!!!

used any heating cleaners like fernox?Whats the process for this?
