Hi all....
I have got a problem with misfiring/stuttering on the 2.5 V6. Happens when working up through the gears (auto). Once rolling at a speed, and in top, runs perfect.
Question/s ....can you do the paperclip test with engine running (I have only ever done it with engine off). If answer is yes, would you pick up more/better code readings with the engine running.
I assume you would insert the paperclip, then start the engine ;)
May seem a trivial question, but obviously I don't want to muck it up :y

You can, but the older ecu's don't pick up miss fire codes like the later drive by wires of the 2.6 and 3.2 with obd2 codes.

Its better having engine running as you will normally "no rpm signal" as a code. :y
Missfire is normally on the HT side so probably wont store a code, unless the EML has been on.
Normal culprits are ..Plugs/Leads/Disspack ..in that order. :(
I spent yesterday replacing my N/S cam cover after it gave up,although was due a change with mileage, and had filled #2/4/6 plug well so worth having a look as my miss was similar to that described.
