Title: lpg supplier
Post by: Dazzler on 17 March 2013, 17:38:37
Where is the best place these days to get lpg system from? I'm based on the Cambridge area. Is tinleytech one of the common suppliers on here?
Many thanks

Tinley are very good but not the cheapest. Good idea is to buy the front end kit from Ebay. Stag kits new. Then buy the tank etc from Tinley

Long time no see!  :y

Trust you are keeping well?

Not sure of Teilo's current status. I recall him not selling kits last time I heard, but Lazydocker will know more. No personal experience with the other retailers but I'm sure others will be able to advise.

He may or may not be but has become too unreliable for me to recommend him any more :-X ::)

Tinley are very good, they know their onions and give excellent support :y But it does come at a price ;) As Doz says... I'd be tempted to get a Stag 300+ front end (purely because we know it well and support is easier to give) and the Tank and any other stuff you need from Tinley.

It will put the price of a DIY conversion up to much closer to £900/1000 by the time it's inspected and registered though :'(

Thank you all.
Tinley want £645+vat for the kit and £50 to certify it afterwards.
Another £100 for 6 pot flash lube kit which I'm not sure if I need as opinions vary on that one.

I've been running the V6 for 5 years 50,000 miles with the flashlube kit fitted but empty... :) It was part of the "package" to fit it, but from research it appears not to be needed on these engines, so I haven't paid to top it up since it ran out .......  :)

Unfortunately it's not in an omega, hence why I'm in this section.

Ah, Ford Zetec and LPG. I believe its not an ideal combo - possibly even flashlube may not be enough...

Duratec engine, which I've been informed has hardened valve seats in the mk3  :-\

Has it got the returnless fuel system too? Could be a headache.

I know those were always notorious for VSR on LPG, even with flashlube.

Ihonestly don't know Kevin.

You need Flashlube without a doubt as even if it has hardened valve seats it will suffer VSR severely (the "Factory Conversions" were getting replacement heads when still under warranty!).

Personally I wouldn't bother... Don't think it's worth the headache, especially if has the non-return fuel system ::)

How do I find out about non return fuel system?
What impact does this have regarding lpg?
