hi all
i think i may have a problem with the autobox,
when the car is upto normal temp and you drive car the normal there is no issues with the box its
up and down as smooth as anything
but when you do a hill start it seems to hold 1st gear till you are on level ground then it changes as normal but if you take it above 4000 revs
it goes into back up mode
thanks

Check the fluid level with engine running and on level ground. :y
If low, add new till it just starts to overflow, again with engine running. However if you have no history of the fluid and its condition and colour is really dark worth while doing a change along with the filterscreen.
Full write up in maintenance section but beware as it is a messy job ; :o so plenty of protection for you and surrounding areas ;D

oil and filter was changed 6 months ago and oil level is ok checked that yesterday
-
Theres not much else maintenance wise that can be done,so my advise now would be to see if you have any gearbox codes stored :y
-
the fault is showing up as incorrect gear ratio thats the only fault stored

sounds like two separate things. The first is probably intentional and a good thing.

The gearbox ECU will hold a lower gear on hills - you might have noticed it changes down a gear during normal driving when you start going uphill.
Does it bring up gearbox fault on the display?
-
It will hold on to lower gears going uphill, and also going downhill off the throttle.
But if its going into limp mode then its excessive and having trouble shifting. Auto custard Addict had problems with his v6auto on hills. He swapped the ecu. But I'm not sure if that ecu adapted and the problem returned. :-\
Wonder if first to second solenoid needs replacing...? :-\
-
Ps, I believe tech 2 can activate solenoid remotely. Might be worth a test if your near one of the tech2 owning members here. (Don't bother with dealers obviously)

The error code (if thats the only one) implies low fluid or shagged plates. Unless its a TD, I'd suspect the former.
