Considering what a mess the Coalition took on, and how money is, well very tight, I thought it was not a bad budget at all.

Well that won't cover the current white elephant, commonly known as HS2.

Fixing some potholes would be a better use of money.

With the Government underwriting mortgages, what could possibly go wrong? Just don't mention Fanny May and Fanny Mac.  ::) ::) ::) ::)

Personally, where after three years of this Government, public spending is 49% of GDP, taxes are still rising at 43% of GDP and the unsustainable deficit is now going up again. I think disaster is too light a word to use and the word filter won't let me say what I really think!  :o :o :o :o

In 2014 or 2015, with a massive deficit, sovereign debt approaching 100% of GDP, you had better all hope there is plenty of fireworks going on in the Eurozone, so the markets, don't start pricing Gilt interest rates where they should be, at an unsustainable 6 to 7% or higher, because at that point the economic train crash begins in earnest with a very hard landing. The Government will take the easiest option of QE and inflation, to inflate the debts away. Any offers on how much higher this will be than the 28% in the 1970's?  >:( >:( >:( >:(

Disaster.
Disaster
Disaster

I didn't see anything to avert the train crash that UK Plc is heading for.

Unbuckle your seat belts and buy a new house with cheap (tax payer funded) loan and have a (1p) cheaper pint.

I don't see anything which is going to stop the forthcoming disaster and bailout. Of course the Uk is too big for a bailout. It will still end up in the euro - assuming the Euro still exists .

I note that none of you have noted just one of the positives of this Budget - typically everyone is very cynical and pessimistic - that the Government has saved £11 billion across the departments in underspending and has helped to fund the goodies of the budget.

Not worth mentioning then?  ??? ??? ::) ::) ::) ::) ::)

You miserable lot! ::) ::) ::) ::) ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;) ;)

Ahh... Lizzie .. you have forgotten the golden rules regarding posting about the Government

Rule 1

All bad news about the country's economic position is totally and utterly true

Rule 2

All bad news is this governments fault and cannot be blamed on any external factors or previous governments whatsoever.

Rule 3

All good news about the economy is a total fabrication by inveterate liars

Rule 4

If an element of good news is, however unlikely, found to be truthful, it is because of some outside influence beyond the control of this Government.

Rule 5

No other rules are allowed

Given how completely and utterly hopeless the situation is and how terribly, terribly doomed we are as a country .. sometimes I wonder how some people make it out of bed in the morning? Given their world view, I'd probably just stay there, lay in my own excrement until death overcame me...

I think some folks need a dose of these:

I personally think the Torys are doing a great job. A good budget and the deficit actually coming down. labour would have simply borrowed more. the tories are actually making a difference imo.

Also things seem a lot brighter. the country is far from doomed.

The fact is that people will always moan about almost ANY Budget, by ANY government, of ANY political party. Personally, I agree, it's really not too bad. I notice that shadow chancellor Ed 'dangle berries' has not had much of any real constructive substance to say, just the usual blustering rhetoric.

Unfortunately, I fear they are not doing nearly well enough to keep Labour out come the next election. When that happens we'll really be in trouble.

"The budget should be balanced, the Treasury should be refilled,

public debt should be reduced, the arrogance of officialdom should be tempered and controlled,

and the assistance to foreign lands should be curtailed, lest Rome will become bankrupt.

People must again learn to work instead of living on public assistance."

So, evidently we've learnt bugger all over the past 2,067 years.

I have actually got to give credit where it is due to Osborne - he has been quite impressive in contrast to Ed Balls who is just a bungling, blubbering idiot repeating the same infantile rants when we are all in the knowledge about his reckless past in this job.

He would spend on public sector projects which will just once again grow the public sector. Investment in public projects needs to be in areas that give long term private not public sector jobs. Can we make these buggars spend taxpayers funds on UK goods and services or are we competing for best price against rigged subsidised bids from our friends elsewhere in the EU
