Title: 2.5td radiator
Post by: Turk on 20 March 2013, 20:06:30
Doh !!  My radiator has sprung a leak in the off-side plastic end tube. I've tried the Halfrauds Heavy-Duty 'Radweld' type stuff, which has definately lessened it, but it's still spraying out when it gets around the 95 deg mark.

Looked on Fleabay and the cheapest I can find is: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Nissens-Radiator-for-OMEGA-B-U2-5-TD-A-C-63075-/310455388967?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&fits=Model%3AOmega&hash=item4848954b27

£166.99  :o

There is an Extra Heavy-Duty mix I can try or am I just wasting money ?  Does anyone have any experience with this stuff ?

Edit: Just spotted this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fast-30-minute-hard-cure-for-Plastic-PETROL-TANK-RADIATOR-repair-putty-30-grams-/360403268471?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item53e9b57377
The leak appears to be a split in the, plastic in the corner/edge of a right angle seam. I guess that may offer twice as much adhesion with it having two walls to adhere to...or am I still wasting my money ?  :-\

The rad is probably at end of life anyway, and readweld type bodges are the work of Satan.

Sadly TD rads do hold a premimium :(

When I needed one, I found one for £50, snapped it up, and waitied for Mr Postie.  2 days later, they refunded it saying they were out of stage, but did one for £150. Scumbags :(

Don't price one from vauxhall then .... unless sitting down with a large stiff drink to hand .. you'll probably need it going by the 3.2 price compared to the site I posted !!

I bought mine from dealer in the end. It was only a few quid more than the pattern ones - and at the time I had cooling problems, so couldn't take the risk...
