Title: Major snow event for Midlands, N. England etc.
Post by: Nickbat on 21 March 2013, 16:01:03
I've been reading about the potential for some of the heaviest snow of the winter for these areas....starting tomorrow.

Amber warning issued by the Met Office for the W. Midlands:

High ground may see snow accumulations of 20-40 cm in places, with drifting and blizzard conditions due to the strong to gale force southeasterly winds. At lower levels, there is a chance that parts of the north Midlands, north east Wales and north west England may see 10-15 cm of snow.

Metcheck, the once useful forecasting site, claimed we'd have 15+cm overnight, bloody 'tards. For once, the beeb forecast was right.

I've noticed the reliability of Metcheck has gone right down hill over the last 9 months or so >:(

Trouble is I don't/can't trust it any more. Thus I ignored its snow predictions, and still planned to set off pre 10am (ie, once rush hour has fully died down). Had I believed it, I would have rung the Outlaws and suggested later in day to give roads chance to be cleared a bit.
