Hi. Does anybody know what this box is?

It's a diesel run heater so the car is nice and warm on these cold spring mornings ::)

Does it normally make a neat diesel smell?

I didn't realise there was a heater under the bumper and on these cold mornings there was smoke coming out from the engine bay.  I only bought the car on Wednesday so it did give me a bit of a fright to say the least!!!  But thanks to the forum i had my worst fears quashed and that the engine was fine, thank you for the posts.
