Hi all I have an omega 2.5 td Cdx estate with manual gearbox although its an excellent car.
If I was asked to describe it in 2 words I'd say
Big (and) slow
Big being exactly the reason I bought it but I did hope it would be a fair bit nippier
Mine is the 130ps 250nm version without maf sensor etc.
there are many companies that offer a remap, chip tune etc etc
And for around £250 on paper it would seem to be with it.
I have a mondeo 2ltr tdi that's 115ps with 300nm as standard
And that drives quite quickly as the turbo starts to spool and pull from around 1800 rpm
So what I'm asking is this
If I spend the money on a remap for my car will it be a lot quicker?
Will/can the turbo spool any sooner in the rev range?
Will fuel economy be better. As the map has removed all flat spots?
Do any of you guys have any recommendations?
All I really want out of this car is it to be able to accelerate decently without fear of dropping out of the turbo range and car becoming so flat I have to gear down to find any kind of pull.
Cheers all

Dont wast your money you will not see any noticable power gain from the engine without major engine rebuilding or improved crank as it will not take much more than std power, also most of the restriction is the exhaust manifolds and these are limited to fitting 3.2 engine items and then modding the front pipe to fit the new items.
Courtney performance claim to boost power but charge you crap loads for nothing.

what about the 2.2 dti - sure i could get more horses out of that one and more economy!

De-cat it, then get it remapped or fit a PBox.

I really don't want to mess around with de cat and then having to put it back on for mots then take it off all over again. I just want it to drive abit quicker. And pull a little stronger rather than feeling like its an ocean liner below turbo spool

get a v6 if you want proper performance :D :y

You don't need to put it back on for an MOT, it's a smog test only on a diesel. Just open it up and remove the innards and weld it back together, that way if the new regs of 'visually checking for the presence of a cat' every come in you won't have an issue.

Or get a 2.5 DTi (two on eBay at the moment but they were only sold in Euroland) and have the same / more power and go twice as far on a tankfull!

214 ECU most likely. I think the usual chip man has some upgrades for this :)
